Aircraft Management

Alright all you out there who manage aircraft. I'm in need of your expertise. A company I work with has asked me to help them with the acquisition of their first aircraft (Phenom 300) and asked that I manage it. I'm coming from the 135 world and I'm not quite sure what types of insurance I will need. I know what I need for the aircraft, but since my newly formed management company will have operational control do I need additional liability coverage separate from that of the aircraft? I've always been hoping I'd get a management gig, but I didnt think it would happen so soon. I'm feeling a little rushed to get a company set up, so any additional advice on getting up and running would be greatly appreciated.

you just need to be 'named insured' on the aircraft policy...

if you want separate "business insurance" like E&O and such, then you are on your own, but make it a pass through cost for your business.

PM for more details if you would like.

Insurance

Thanks quietspike. Check your PMs.
I wasn't expecting the offer to manage the aircraft as I'm a fairly low time pilot (2600 TT 350 Multi Turbine), but the company has offered to cover the costs of a mentor pilot which the insurance company will most likely require. I feel very fortunate for the opportunity but also a little overwhelmed at the job a hand.

Congrats IdahoFlyer! I am in a similar situation, though a much slower pace in a/c acquisition and such. Good Luck!

The first step is to hire a good aviation attorney. I manage a many of aircraft and I have a business attorney and an aviation attorney. That's the very first step in getting insurance. Just the way it is.

I was sure an aviation attorney would have to fit into the mix along the way, but wasn't quite sure how soon to start shopping for one. I guess sooner is always better than later.
