ProPilot salary data is submitted by readers of the magazine.

My guess is PP subscribers/respondents for airline aircraft are substantially fewer than the bizav side, possibly skewing numbers.

I think the numbers are somewhat bogus too... I even submitted my salary one year and they were much higher than were posted in the mag, so I know they don't look at everyones salary. At least they didn't look at mine that year. Even today, my numbers are higher than in the salary range, and they should be based on the area I live in. Plus what about all these 3-4yr Southwest FO's making 130-145k a year? Thats not properly reported in the mag either even with all the notations. I have my suspesions.

They are using statistical analysis techniques to derive these numbers. They are providing ranges of saleries for example; the post an average high and an average low not necessary the highest high or the lowest low. I spoke with a representative from PP at IOC in San Diego a couple of months ago and asked him how they figure out these saleries.

Does anyone know if the NBAA numbers are published anywhere besides their site? Thanks in advance. Ricky

You have to be an NBAA member who participated in the Compensation & Benchmarking Survey in order to get a copy of it...or you have to buy it.

But if you're just looking for figures, folks can get numbers for you...just tell us what you are looking for.

The NBAA will generate the salary review as reported by employers and not employees and is broken down into a/c weight categories, type of business etc. but with no mention of specific a/c types. My understanding is you have to pay an additional $200 and NBAA will send it to you. I've been looking at these numbers for the last few years and they have consistently been lower than the ones shown in Pro Pilot.

Ive been trying to figure out what the disparity is but I just dont see it. The easiest conclusion would be that pilots are fudging their pay on the high side but I dont really see why anyone would lie about their income on an anonymous survey - but who knows.

If that is the case, guys are probably trying to push up the numbers so they can source the data when going in for a raise. That's my guess anyway.

Good point - but that would be the largest documented case of pilots working together towards a common goal

That is funny.

It's probably more accurate that a group of pilots are unknowingly working in parallel through unethical practices towards a commonly selfish goal.
