American lease in Spain

Hi

Our company is trying to bring a Challenger 601 over to Spain from USA for a short 6 month lease. Spanish Customs are telling me that we will have to pay tax on the aircraft after 30 days or the bus might get grounded. Rest of Europe seem ok with 6 month lease on N plates. Anybody experienced this before?

Many Thanks

Would this be the tax for importing the aircraft?

Vat

As the aircraft will be working in the EU you will be required to "pay" VAT.

However as the Challenger is I think over the weight band, you can import into UK, or Denmark, and pay ZERO VAT, and be considered to be "imported and VAT paid".

The answer is to contact a company such as Metro Handling or Signature in Luton (EGGW) and as them, to action this, a reasonable fee, and a few days work. The aircraft must be presented for examination.

Alternativly there is a company in Stansted (EGSS) who specialises in this work, but has been very slow on the last two imports I have been involved with.

I have 2000hrs on 601, and have it on my FAA licence, so if you need any SIC assistance in Spain, (which is where I live), (I will be in Las Vegas on a G550, next week), feel free to contact me at [email protected].

Regards,

Bumz
