CE-500 Series Help!
Hey all,
I am using this as a last ditch effort for someone who may be able to help me network with the right people.. I just graduated college in December and received a scholarship from the MBAA to receive a Citation 500 series SIC type rating (completed in a Encore+) through FlightSafety. I've completed the course and need a landing in the actual aircraft to make the endorsement valid. This endorsement expires in May of next year however here's where my dilemma comes in.. I have been in the Air National Guard for the past 6 years and have been promoted and given a pilot slot at my base on the kc135. I leave for training soon and once I'm gone for training, I'm gone for 2 years and my endorsement will expire. I understand an SIC type isn't really a type but I'd rather have it than just let it expire. I am currently in Wisconsin flight instructing and will travel wherever to get the actual landing done. I have done my research and there aren't many operators here in Wisconsin with a 500 series Citation. If anyone knows someone who may be doing a maintenance flight or is looking for a fill in SIC for a few months I would greatly appreciate it if anyone would feel comfortable passing information to me, or even giving me information of where I could send a resume! Thanks guys and hope to hear from you! |
I wasn't under the impression the "sic type rating" expires. 61.55 doesn't say anything about it.

It is a shame to let such a thing go to waste, but I'm thinking that your future training and type in a BE-40 will more than make up for the lack of a CE-500 SIC rating for any possible future employment.
Congrats on the opportunity though. If you would care too share your journey, we've had a lot of the usual 'best ways to go about.....' type of questions lately from people looking to follow your path. Maye a new thread in the 'Military' forum detailing your selection process? USMCFLYR |

I thought the point was that it wasn't "valid" until he gets that last requirement complete - the actual landing.

I have an SIC endorsement without an expiration. with that said, I took a recurrent a couple weeks ago that is only valid for a year (for insurance reasons) I had no idea they issued them with expirations though. --congrats on the job as well!

what part of the country are you from?-- that's for 512, I'm typing on an iPad and it hits submit before I want it to.

I'm in Wisconsin now. I teach out of Sturgeon Bay, Green Bay, and Appleton. The 512 is from part of the tail number I was a crew chief on.

These are the types of questions that often get asked and having someone who recently went through the process would be beneficial to have as a source of information. USMCFLYR |
