Larger plane, new salary?
 

When a department is upgrading their aircraft to a larger plane, should the pilots expect/negotiate a raise more in line with the new aircraft's industry standard wage? Ie Lear to hawker 800xp? Or mid size cabin to large cabin plane? Would it matter if the pilots needed initial type or only recurrent?

In general, yes. GX captains make more than CX captains, so yes, you should negotiate for more money. That's industry "norm" - if there is such a thing.

Training costs of pilots should not factor into the equation. It's part of the purchase of a new/larger jet. Just like they'll need to re-train mechanics, maybe get a larger hangar, new parts supply, outfit the jet with new linens and dishes, etc. Buying a new jet is more than just the sticker price to drive it off the lot.

Definitely research and negotiate for the proper pay for the airframe.

NBAA has a link on their web site as to what "industry average" pay should be per aircraft. Check it out. It will get you a rough estimate. I believe if your department is NBAA or ISBAO, they will help you decide and they should offer services on how to approach the big guy and negotiate your salary.

You should get recompensed according to standards, regardless of the cost of the type. If your boss has a problem with paying for your type and giving you adequate salary, you should consider finding another boss. Additionally, if the pane is new (I don't know if that is the case), it comes with full crew training, i.e. type ratings, FA, and AMP.

Yes - you have to be a member AND your company participated in order to view the Compensation Survey results. Otherwise, you have to purchase the results.

NBAA figures are pretty general though, with Jet II weights ranging from 10-20k MTOW, 20-45k (covers a wide range from Excel/LR40 through a Falcon 2000LX/Challenger 601) and 45-80k.
