Corporate jobs in the oil industry?

As a general rule, no mater what your job description is in Big Oil, you are paid extremely well. As a former seaman, I know that if you were on an offshore supply vessel, you might make 3x what you would make stateside.

So does the same rule apply to Big Oil corporate flying jobs? (I'm talking fixed wing, because although there are probably numerous helo jobs in oil, I am not roto-rated).

Very good jobs. Probably a big difference in the pay/benefits of pilots at Exxon/Chevron Dallas/Houston jobs and the pilots out in Midland and Lubbock working for the local oil wildcatter. They probably aren't making 3x, but their pay is probably in the top 20% of all corporate jobs with better benefits as well. They aren't going to desirable locations these days as well (not that it really matters).

I hear the big oil corporations pay very very well.

Exxon and Conoco Phillips are probably the two best "oil" jobs, extremely hard to get in. Gotta know a couple of "somebodies", plus a healthy amount of int'l experience.

I talked to a pilot that flies for Chevron. good pay, but he is not happy there.

Valero and Phillips 66 also have flight departments. Dont know much about them

Then there's Shell in the Netherlands. They definitely want European-JAA Passport, ATPL and medical. I'm sure lots of European corporate pilots trying to get on with them

Flew King Airs and 206s for BJ and BakerHughes.

Pay was around $100k. Standard benefits. When BJ was bought by Baker, about two months later my job went away and I became a Field Engineer.
