29 G550 Listed for Sale
I just saw on an aviation sales website 29 G550 and 4 G650's listed for sale. Is that amount of activity normal? It seems like a fire sale!
It seems like the US economy is limping along. A few of the G550's had foreign registrations.
Are things slow in the corporate world?

I might be in the market for a G550.

G550s are getting older, and many in this this level of the market replace on a 6-8year schedule. They take delivery of a G650 and sell the "old" 550. Its certainly a buyers market for 10yr old G550s/Globals etc. Soon these planes will be what GIVs/G5's are today - falling down to the used/charter market. You can get a G5 or a Global for 15-18mil pretty easy today.
The 650s you see on the market are just urning for a profit and are targeted at the types who can't wait 2 years and will pay whatever it takes.
Now if you want to see something depressing, take a look at the Hawker/Citation type market. Thats more concerning to me as it shows where our industry is headed, and its not good.

A good friend went on the G650 from long experience in the Global. In the effort to have common types, the G650 is too much like the "legacy" Gulfstream's, no automation, like autobrakes. It has worse landing performance than a Global, for example. Yes, it does make range and fuel burns, but that's it.
He'd rather fly the Global.
