Position Location: Dekalb-Peachtree Airport (PDK) in Atlanta, Georgia Must currently reside, or being willing to relocate, within 55 miles of PDK. Specific Job Requirements: Captain * Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate, with Multi-Engine and Instrument Ratings. * Flight Time Requirements: * 3,000 Hours Total Time * 1,500 Hours PIC Multi-Engine (Fixed-Wing) * 1,000 Hours Multi-Engine Turbine Preferred (Fixed-Wing) * First-Class FAA Medical Certificate (Must be able to acquire) First Officer * Commercial Pilot Certificate, with Multi-Engine and Instrument Ratings. * Flight Time Requirements: * 1,500 Hours Total Time * 500 Hours PIC Multi-Engine (Fixed-Wing) * 500 Hours Multi-Engine Turbine Preferred (Fixed-Wing) * First-Class FAA Medical Certificate (Must be able to acquire) Formal Education Requirements * High School Diploma, or equivalent. * College Degree desirable Skills & Abilities: * Perform PIC and SIC duties, as defined in the Flight Operations Manual (FOM). * Must be a self-starter, able to work under minimal supervision * Must be a cooperative team player * Must accept flexible and dynamic schedules, including early mornings, late nights, weekend flights and overnight travel * Be willing to accept temporary assignments at other company domiciles, on occasion. * Must have good communications skills * Must be able to interact appropriately with executive level customers * Participate in the Safety Management System (SMS) and ISBAO standards. * Models all aspects of company culture – Safety First, Unquestionable Trust, Superior Performance, and Total Commitment. Currently operating the 45 & 75. Bases in PDK and BHM, PNS and GPT are no longer. Talks are ongoing on what the next frame will be. Not much of a schedule, pay substandard imho.....but a solid company with strong pilot group.

I work inside on the generation side of the company. And according to the pay level they have on the inside app its a start pay around 75K, with bonus you are looking around 85K to 90K. Bonus is 10% of your base pay x 100 to 200%. we usually get about 160%. You can look to get a 3% raise every year if they approve it and they approved this year. Pension and 401k contribute up to 6% match. I think if you want to be close to the house and don't want to deal with the airline lifestyle it will be good a fit. |

Very similar pay scale to what it was 10 years ago when I interviewed in GPT.

No intention on flaming away, but why on earth would you move (or live) in a major metropolitan city as a qualified captain for 80-90K? I know other charter outfits paying more than that in the same equipment.....is it the benefits, pension or schedule? I'm honestly trying to comprehend why one would make the move for those wages.

Agreed, everyone has differing opinions on what benefits qualify a great gig. It just baffles me that a solid company such as SC would bring qualified people in at those numbers. Different strokes for different folks I suppose. Best of luck to those applying.

How it works in the real word
Breaking down the pilot bubble;
Many (not all) pilots start down a very technical path and may not be exposed to how the rest of the world as it relates to compensation. (career military folks can fall into this category) Many pilots think about compensation based "scales" that have been long established in the labor union influenced airline industry. Compensation in a corporate flight department is directly related to the companies pay practices that span the entire organization.(including executives) There really are no scales, compensation lines up in ranges the typically include a lot of variable compensation based on a variety of factors. Analyzing base pay at a lager corporation will never paint the full value of a career with a Fortune 500 company.... |

I’d be cautious. They laid off 15-20% of their flight department personnel just a couple of months ago. Their nuclear power plant project is facing a lot of challenges similar to what happened over in South Carolina. Ask those guys how that turned out.
