At +/-2000# of fuel per leg, and carrying medical personnel for free, we are doing a service for some in the community. Not to mention some cargo. We are also not flying a 717 2500 miles empty, putting crews in hotels and then doing a few interisland legs.
Definitely not making money, but also not burning in the tens of millions per month...

Think it all has to do with who cancels the flight.
With liquidity being an issue, if the pax cancel, they don’t get a refund. If an airline cancels, then the pax are entitled to a refund.
About the only reason I think why airlines would fly empty airplanes.
