The military looks at every new accession as a liability for disability payments in the future. COVID-19 is a huge unknown and until they know more, they don’t want people to get into the Mil and then get out within a couple years and claim disability for “respiratory damage”.
Right now the VA is overwhelmed with claims from all the damn Burn Pits overseas, they don’t want to risk more people than they need to.
Also every recruiter knows the saying, “if it ain’t on paper, the it’s vapor.” If a person really wanted to join, then they may not be able to find documentation of a positive result.
Also everything is waiverable, until it’s not, and vice versa.

Here’s something else.
https://www.onlineathens.com/news/20...st-coronavirus(Said researchers) believe they have found is that a vaccine in use since 1971 may account for why younger people are less susceptible to the ravages of COVID-19, while the mortality rates for those above age 49 is high.
That vaccine introduced five decades ago for measles-mumps-rubella is often called MMR.
....
so maybe that explains why it’s the “boomer remover” and the younger folks seem immune

Not going to start a new thread for this, but it was most interesting.
From "Newsweek" (apparently, they still exist).
Military isn't going to accept new recruits who've tested positive for COVID19.
I'm non-military. But I'd be most curious to hear military guys/gals/trans chime in on this: does this seem odd?
What does US Gov/MIL know about COVID19 and it's long term effects that it would discourage/deny future heroes from joining up?
Coronavirus Survivors Permanently discouraged from joining US military.

It's possible they will defer COVID patients until they know more... but they don't know anything more than anyone else about COVID.

Some hopeful progress on Modernas' vaccine. ALL test groups are developing antibodies 2 weeks after administration of 2nd dose. Antibody vaccine does not prevent the infection of CV19, however it reduces the severity.

It would also be interesting to look at severity vs. recency of MMR vaccine/booster. If you can't prove you had MMR as a child, the mil will give it to you (starting after 9/11 IRCC).
So younger mil members probably had electronic records showing vaccination 20-30 years ago, so possibly did not get a recent MMR. Older members (35-ish + ) may not have had their records and would have more likely gotten a recent booster (that was the case for me and my wife).
I think USS Roosevelt might be a better population to consider... they have all the shot records as well as accurate stats on who got covid, how bad, and who didn't.
