Default Lockdown Proponents Are Science Deniers

Stick with me here. This may sound harsh, but reality frequently is.

For the longest time, we've been lectured by certain people that if you question the data of "global warming..." sorry, "climate change" then you're a SCIENCE DENIER. Those same certain people say that if you question the guidance and data from the World Health Organization that you are ignoring the "experts" and are a SCIENCE DENIER. Those same certain people over the years have taken special glee in talking down to evangelical christians who might happen to believe in creation or intelligent design by saying that they are SCIENCE DENIERS.

In general, those certain people seem to largely be the ones demanding longer lockdowns, absolute adherance to masks, social distancing, and basically no return to normal until a magical vaccine is available.

Well, if these certain people are the arbitrators of all things science, then surely they believe in evolution, right?

And what is evolution, in a nutshell?

Natural selection through survival of the fittest.

And who are the primary targets of Covid 19?

The old. The weak. The infirm. In overwhelming numbers. Natural selection.

So, if you support endless lockdowns, dubiously effective mandatory masks, science-less social distancing, and are waiting for a vaccine that will probably never be more than 50% effective, then you are a SCIENCE DENIER.

Sounds harsh, but reality frequently is.

I've seen people express concerns on social media and other forums about people being less likely to listen to the scientists and experts on really important upcoming hurdles like global warming because of how wrong things have been handled by experts during the COVID-19 pandemic.

That's a funny way of looking at things. Instead I see this pandemic as a great illumination of how much disagreement and imperfection there is among scientists and experts and how blindly following some or all of them without any reasonable skepticism can lead to disastrous consequences. The time frame for this to all happen was short enough for it to unfold before our very eyes.

The drastic measures that some people propose we undertake to combat global warming should be seen with the same reasonable degree of skepticism. Voicing that skepticism, as you say, runs the risk of one being labeled a 'science denier'.

Just sayin if we got a 50 percent vaccine it would most likely stop most people from getting severe disease and ending up in the hospital. If this just turned into a mast infection that wasn’t overrunning hospitals the world would start turning tomorrow.

This is literally the stupidest **** I’ve read on this website. I actually felt my IQ drop a point trying to comprehend the drivel you were trying to opine.

The science says to wear masks, to social distance, to wash your hands, all in the hopes of getting to a vaccine while minimizing deaths. Just because you decide to capitalize words in a sentence over and over does not make your incoherent babble sound more intelligent. Your reality is clearly one defined by a political bubble rather than expert recommendations.

The hubris of someone talking about natural selection and evolution without even the slightest idea what those two things are....

Covid ISN'T overrunning hospitals. We didn't just flatten the curve, we squashed it. And then those certain people moved the goal posts.

My state had ONE fatality yesterday. ONE. Almost half the counties in my state don't have ANY active CASES. And yet we are barely reopening a few areas of the economy. The states that have reopened more fully are NOT having huge spikes in hospitalizations and deaths (the only metrics that matter). Certain political "leaders" in this country are absolutely wasted-@$$ drunk on power and are TOTAL science deniers because they continue to ignore the statistics that this pandemic is fading.

Actually, there are studies that indicate improper usage of any mask and especially the use of cloths masks is detrimental. The social distancing "science" was invented out of whole cloth during the H1N1 outbreak a decade ago. The "experts" have been proven wrong repeatedly and their recommendations have changed more often than you probably change your underwear.

Oh, and you realize there has never been a successful vaccine for an RNA replicating virus, right? More of that science-y stuff.

You can choose to exist in fear. I choose to live.

Yeah no we flattened and are no where near crushing it. Crushing it is South Korea, Germany, or Australia. Germany adjusted for population would have about 1600 total cases yesterday. CA a state half the size of Germany had double the cases yesterday. Left unchecked this will over run the hospitals we know this because it did it China, Spain, and Italy. FFS most of Italy’s problem go back to one champions league football match.

Wait what? I could have sworn we had a vaccine to the flu, rabies, and the measles. Oh wait we do.

Nobody is living in fear. We’re in a public health crisis and people like you think freedom means you can go to Costco to buy $1.50 hotdog without a mask is what the revolutionary war was about. I’m assuming you hop in your jet and refuse to wear a seatbelt or a mask at altitude with a Fed on board and tell him, “I don’t live in fear.” Every American, and every person on this planet is exhausted with the current situation. Many of us don’t try to argue constitutional freedoms as a work around. After 9/11, you gladly gave up your freedoms with the Patriot Act over 3000 deaths. We’re nearing 100,000 deaths from a virus, which is only 100,000 because of lockdowns, social distancing and masks, and you’re losing your bananas because you can’t get a haircut.
