Default 70% Capacity for Standby

Does anyone know when the major airlines will stop restricting standby travel to 70%. At least United is selling them full if possible now that everyone is supposed to wear masks. Why can’t they go ahead and let their standby employees on too?

The cost of a full flight is that people feel less safe, but the benefit is more money. There is no up side to filling a plane with non-revs. My guess it will be this way for a while.

Sure, once the threat of litigation subsides. It’s a tough time to be a commuter, I know they are over selling and hear PS to work ends soon.

Interestingly, the day I asked this question our company let us know that United plans to lift the 70% restriction on July first.

A United gate agent I spoke with yesterday said that United has yet to tell them they are "extending" the 70% rule but has not told them it is being lifted or not on July 1st. My guess is they are in "wait and see" mode for the next few days before finalizing a decision given the rapid changes in cases in certain cities (ex. Houston).
