Right, it certainly isn’t having the same impact this time around. People are becoming numb to it despite it being on blast all the time. Most of my family has resumed travel to some degree, to visit other family members. Most friends and family pushed their vacations to tourist destinations to next year.

10-25/Sunday: 39.7%

as we enter Halloween week, my observation is

Weekday traffic remains in the 30-35% range

Weekend traffic routinely is touching 40+%

I think you might be underselling “weekdays”. Yes Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s are currently in the 30-35 range, and since they are still at the low end of that range, future weeks should see them still in that range.

But Monday’s, Thursday’s and Friday’s are already in the 35-40 range - and have been consistently since Oct 8th. So if you are saying you expect 30-35 for those 3 days, you are predicting a decline?

I do agree on your point of weekends exceeding 40%. We are very close.

I think grouping all 5 weekdays together is problematic - it’s seems like M/Th/F is in the middle of the pack - better than Tu/W, worse than S/S - in terms of % of last year. But yes you are right on where Tue/Wed and Sat/Sun are and will be in the coming week. I just think you are not giving M/Th/F enough credit.

Yesterday, LAX customs and immigration was so overwhelmed that they had to tell multiple flights to keep their passengers at the gate and not allow them to deplane until they had a better handle on the situation. Was happy to do my part. Our first flight was overbooked and our second attempt was COVID full. Gonna write the CEOs now and tell them my findings.

I personally think Fridays are hard to "label", return business travel that day, and outbound "got Friday off" leisure travel. In some aspects, Friday should be the biggest day of the week

no predictions. my crystal ball broke a long time ago. my opinions yes, in line with APC heated discussions.

Media fear blitz is full steam this week. Can imagine this gets a little worse. We’ll see how many ppl fall for it.

I’m encouraged by the fact that the numbers haven’t begun to really roll back yet. The passenger load response happened much earlier into the media fear show and higher case count last summer. I have no doubt that we will likely see a sustained plateau and decrease in numbers, but when things finally begin to pick up again we will be starting from a much improved new baseline than we did in late July/August. As we’ve all said before... People are tired, catching on the the truth and reality of all this beyond what they’re fed by the media, and many are taking security in the fact that there is likely a vaccine around the corner. Even if not widely distributed and there will be some people who refuse to take it, I think the fact that it’s there will give many a psychological comfort blanket.

Higher by almost 2%. That’s a good breakout after going absolutely flat for 4-5 days. Let’s hope YOY% keeps going up. With that number growing over time, we shouldn’t be afraid of the drop in raw numbers.
