Currently most large businesses in my city in FL all state “masks required due to local ordinance.” Well now it’s not required but as you said, the business can require it. They will have to change their signs if they plan to continue the charade. I suspect a couple months of awkward moments before the nonsense is fully over.

Cities in our area had the same sign because the sign was required. But many places didn’t enforce the policy, which governor said was unenforceable when he signed the EO. Law enforcement said they would only issue citations for trespassing if patrons refused to comply with store policies.

A large percentage haven’t been wearing masks for a long time and surprisingly our local population hasn’t been wiped out. In fact it’s growing at one of the fastest rates in the country because of people moving here who are fed up with policies where they came from.

Employees in most places seem to be wearing them, in all but the smallest of business so I guess their employers are still requiring it for employees. I would expect the same in Florida for the most part.

It’s funny you mention HEB. Our HEB never had anyone handing out masks at the door, even during the mandate. One day during the mandate, while walking from car to the front door, the only mask I had on me broke. Figured they would have some at the entrance but nope... not at either entrance. Only masks they had were three fourths of the way back in the store, for sale. No one said anything to me as I walked through the store looking for masks.
Did you have state or local/county mandates? We’ve only had country ones.

I stopped wearing masks to HEB recently. Nobody has said a peep, and no dirty looks. At this point, if you want to be vaccinated but haven’t gotten it yet, it’s your own fault.

The last paragraph was during state mask mandate. Then first paragraph was regarding the statewide rescinding of the mandates. Sorry if that wasnt clear.

Here in GA I've anecdotally seen less and less mask enforcement in businesses since the state mandate ended. I was pleased to see yesterday in a car dealership the sign on the door said "Masks Recommended" instead of "Required" and the receptionist wasn't wearing one. We're slowly flushing the idiocy out of our systems and getting back to normal. It's going to take longer than we'd like, but we'll get there. Even on some of my recent Europe trips people here are starting to be over it, it can't go on much longer

May I suggest redirecting this back to TSA numbers.

Wile I agree a loosening of any restrictions anywhere will support airline pax growth to said area and it’s newsworthy enough to report it on this thread but it’s the ensuing debate that got us into gyms and grocery stores and further away from TSA numbers.

To redirect it back I will say I think we all agree FL is all about ending restrictions and has been for some time and it has a positive impact on numbers to that state. CA/NY/CT/NJ/MA are “blue” states that have announced end dates to all restrictions coming up, some just weeks away, as well. This could have the same positive impact in travel to those states as the data shows these states firmly in the bottom 10 right now. If travel rebounds in some of these states along with sun belt states that are aggressively removing restrictions and already seeing strong growth rates - we could see further growth in nationwide numbers.

There is a way to talk about this topic AND keep it related to TSA numbers. But a straight up mask debate has other threads already better suited to it.

You know the last ones are going to be our institutions of higher learning. They lean so far towards ivory tower virtue signaling. My kids' college is claiming that only vaccinated parents can help unload kids' stuff when they arrive in fall. And YES, they have full on masks-required-when-walking-across-the-big-open-field-by-yourself rule too.

thanks for the daily detailed updates. So I understand it right, is the plus 357k the total raw increase in the past 7 days vs the 7 days prior? Where as the plus 3.8% is this Tuesday vs last Tuesday or is it past 7 days over previous 7?

+357K is wow, ie last 7 days over the 7 days prior or 1-7 vs 8-14. % is off 8-14 total. Weekly growth in a moving window, raw numbers & %.
and since we all know that all trees grow to the sky, I project the rate to get to 100%. A meaningless number, but I had to use logs to do it in the spreadsheet, and I was very proud of myself for having remembered that in 1st shot, so now you have to read it daily 🤣
