They don’t call dengue “break bone fever” for nothing.

Besides, the case fatality rate is nearly 1% - about twice that of COVID-19.

That is non-hemorrhagic dengue. The hemorrhagic dengue provides total immunity, it always used to be pretty near 100% fatal. You don’t get COVID-19 after that!

Yeah, but with modern treatment even the severe cases are only about 2% fatal if you are otherwise young and healthy. But the unrelenting pain is still a b|¥ch.

But if you’re young and healthy your chances of catching COVID is pretty low and your odds of dying from it are even lower. I think I’d rather have COVID than have to live through dengue just for a chance at immunity.

For standard Dengue Fever. But for the few severe cases, when all your internal organs start hemorrhaging blood, a 2% fatality rate is way low. That is especially true in third world countries.

Incidentally, the CNN article you attached does not address what I was speaking of.
