And honestly, so long as there's a threat that a place one wants to travel to being locked down a month from the time one is buying the ticket one is likely to be hesitant to commit to travel plans. Those states close and people will be worried that other states will follow.

It always surprises me how these politicians seem to not care about businesses and peoples financial livelihoods at all...
"The government covering peoples wages" yeah right because the second stimulus package worked so well. Smh

Biden’s covid guy says we may need a lockdown. I was starting to think we might avoid mass furloughs.

I guess if Biden comes out of his basement, contracts COVID-19, we should give him a pill for pain and let him die. His life is just not worth living.

Thats what he’s trying to avoid. The longer this goes on the more furloughs there will be. Problem is it’s kind of too late. A proper lockdown that actually met guidelines for reopening as well the “ FDR style fireside chat” he’s talking about should have happened months ago. Hard to do much when you’ve got 100k plus daily infections, especially in our industry.

Yesterday I flew with someone who happened to be on the tri-state (CT, NY, NJ) reopening advisory committee. The person said that blanket lockdowns are completely ineffective and are only being touted for political reasons. The proven methods are targeted isolation, contact tracing, and potentially locking down a neighborhood. But it needs the be laser focused. We spoke numbers and the person said that you have at MOST a 3% chance (nationwide) of contracting COVID.
3%....
3%....

I don't think it matters what the Fed's want to do, its up to the states.
Ohio Gov gave it a week to lower the cases or he will shut down businesses in his state.

In regards to the original topic, lockdowns do nothing. They didn't work before, they won't work this time. Keeping those that are healthy and not at a high risk of mortality from being able to function and keep our country going is nonsense. All that will happen is unemployment will go back up to double digits from the 6.9% it is at as of Oct 2020, businesses will close, and the country will go into an actual depression.
