Great!!!! I have daughter who just turned 2. We were planning a trip the end of the month and there's no way she'll wear a mask! I don't know what to do now? She's not required to wear a mask at her preschool. In fact no one under the age of 5 at her school has to wear a mask. How do you make a 2 year old wear a mask when she has the attention span of about 30 seconds?

‘People have lost their minds’
Great thread title. The ‘news’ source you quoted is proof of the thread title and part of the problem. People find this sensational crap on the internet then spread it around while getting hysterical.
’Show me a study ... ‘ LOL ... I’ll go with the CDC recommendation.
2year old? That’s a challenge.
Moving on ...

Here is a peer reviewed study of the effectiveness of masks capturing droplet nuclei. Sure - studies have shown that it is 'possible' that CV is spread via airborne transmissions, but that seems exceedingly rare to cause an infection. Measles is a good example of a virus that a common face covering would do nothing to stop. Thankful we have a vaccine for that one!

We also know that initial viral load is the big decider on whether you get the sniffles or a ventilator, so face coverings seem to do an effective job reducing the amount of virus that is shed of an infected person.
I understand how arbitrary it seems that 2 years old is the cutoff, and absolutely empathize with parents struggling with an upset child. I think airlines want to 'CYA' and say 'everyone' is wearing a mask, but also recognize that most doctors don't recommend a face covering under 2, and the airlines just follow that guidance. It seems about as arbitrary as lap children are no longer allowed after 2 years old (immaterial of weight), but rules are rules, and I am thankful that the airline does not have to make case by case decisions.

Southwest never has a problem making a case by case. They never apologize for making a sound decision. They kick people off with inappropriate clothing, make fat people buy 2 seats if they can't fit in 1, you name it. This company however......Bad decision after bad decision. I can't stand working here anymore because the constant bombardment of earned bad press, political stances, support for identity politics, or typical "we're a team" talk with no action to back it up. It's become a left wing activist company and it sucks. If I could replace the seniority and part of the money I'd have left years ago.

I find it rather baffling that a forum of airline pilots are ready to crucify United and this crew, choosing to take the account of this “influencer” lady and her anti-mask husband at full face value.
I fly cargo now, but when I flew pax nobody EVER wanted to boot a passenger unless the behavior was absolutely egregious. We don’t have the full story here, but I have zero doubts that there is way more to the story.

Just wait til we get our full ... FULL fledged liberal agenda going here in the country and the company. It’s going to be great.
Then we are coming after you.

Very well put as I feel the same way.
I understand rules are rules, but isn’t it healthy to question these rules at times? Maybe petition that children under 5 don’t have to wear them, especially now with the vaccine being implemented.
This mask nonsense has gone way out of control
At first it was if u can’t social distance wear a mask. Then you must wear a mask indoors. Then you must wear a mask everywhere you go outside the house. Then you must wear a mask in your own home!
Of course these restrictions vary from state to state. I’m glad I live in a state that has some common sense.
im so sick of this and sheeple going rite along with it wearing masks in the car by themselves, and riding a bike, or walking outside alone...it’s just ridiculous!
I’m all over being safe, but common sense seems to have gone bye bye in this media driven hysteria.
Can’t wait for 2021!
