Australia & New Zealand to establish open travel bubble. The Pacific Ocean makes a good covid moat.

Vaccine Corridors

They should develop Vaccine Corridors for International flights to fly through. These would bombard the aircraft with super high levels of friendly UVB or UVC light which would have the planes and passengers coming out squeaky clean on the other end after spending hours in them! Cost and implementation would have to be closely monitored!

Yes, we had a late and slow start but the pace has now picked up. Today, in Germany, we had a bit more than half a million shots administered. On the 14th it was in excess of 700k shots given on that day. Considering Germany's population is about one quarter of that of the U.S. the numbers are not terrible anymore. As deliveries are scheduled to increase even more in the coming weeks I think every adult who wants the vaccine can have their first shot by some time in July. So I think we are only about two months behind the U.S. Having said that, not everyone will have had their second shot by the summer so I still expect a depressed international travel market this summer.

EU to allow US travelers

Good news

Germany now has a very similar percentage of vaccinated people as the USA. Almost 60% have had at least one dose and just under 50% are fully vaccinated. These numbers seem pretty typical for most of the EU with some countries doing better and some worse. Just like in the US the delta variant is dominant.

Why aren't EU citizens allowed to freely travel to the USA yet? I have a digital EU vaccination "passport" on my phone. Why should this not be recognized in the US? The Biden administration seems to be pretty vague on what it will take for them to allow visitors from Europe again. What a shame. Any thoughts?
