From a recent study published in the BMJ:

At least six studies have reported T cell reactivity against SARS-CoV-2 in 20% to 50% of people with no known exposure to the virus.
I don't doubt it.

For the OP: Maybe.

I had my annual Pulmonology visit to recert my OSA/CPAP documents for the AME. Heard and interesting story from the MD there. He recently was performing some diagnostic work on a sick patient. The patient has had worsening signs & symptoms akin to the SARS nightmare we’ve been dealing with. This is where it gets dicey. The patient had six lab tests all showing negative for C19 including one right before the scope. He pulls a sample of lung tissue and has it tested. It comes up POSITIVE for C19. WTF.

Maybe we will try leaches and/or bloodletting soon.

Interesting problem. Any military person should know this vaccine (all western versions) have more data behind them than every flu shot we took annually for x years.

Ask India how herd immunity is going without vaccine. I can anecdotally say their obesity rate is less than US.
Nice attempt at vaccine shaming. Just because somebody takes a "wait and see" attitude on THIS experimental vaccine doesn't make them an "anti-vaxxer." For many it just means they want more data before making an irreversible decision.

Ironically, there are more and more stories every day casting doubt on the effectiveness and safety of THIS vaccination program, all of which are casually dismissed as black helicopter, tin foil hat conspiracy theories by big media and those pushing the vaccines.

I don't see anybody calling out people for TAKING the vaccine. The attitude is generally "your body, your circumstance, your choice." But that same respect isn't extended to those who are delaying or declining vaccination. They are denigrated as anti-science, ignorant rubes who want to kill others by refusing to submit to vaccination. Typical of the political atmosphere in which we now live.

Yes, no need to stir the pot over hypotheticals... there are many of those and most won't come to pass.

In the US, there is very little legit question about vaccine safety, so far it's all been blatant and total misrepresentation apparently for an anti-vax agenda. One person legit died from J&J, but that's not unheard of with other vaccines either.

Efficacy is also very good, only thing up in the air is how long it lasts but at this point there's enough data to say it's most likely going to make it to at least one year, which is no worse than the flu.

Yes, personal decision. Where I get bent out of shape is with rabid anti-vaxxers who will make any lie or misrepresentation to try to prove their obviously invalid point... that's stoopid and counter-productive

Got the second moderna; 9 hours later strong felt flu-like symptoms that lasted for 5 hours. The next day, very sore al over and fatigued. 3rd was basically back to normal. I’m just happy that now I can be “that guy” and not wear my mask right away. I live in a strict state and can’t wait to walk into businesses in a few weeks and wait to put on a mask until they ask me, cuz this mask worship is irrational.

Speaking of COVID spread and families;

I’ve had 2 family members get covid now, here’s how their family shook out:

Man working in COVID transport got it (mild flu symptoms, didn’t wear a mask at home because he knows they’re worthless). His nurse wife nor 2 young sons did not get it. The middle son got it. All kids under 5.

Separate husband and wife both it from a church without rules. Their middle daughter got it. Their 17 yr old didn’t, their 6 yr old didn’t.

I find it very strange how covid is both extremely contagious, yet not, at the same time

I think there's actually been a few younger women die from J&J and a handful more currently hospitalized/ICU with blood clotting issues...it's all women under 50. Dr Lena Wen - former top Baltimore health official - has been on CNN recommending younger women go with Pfizer or Moderna if given a choice (which we all have now). She disagrees with the FDA. But she totally agrees with your general point...the statistics overwhelmingly show all the vaccines are safe (but if you're a young women, might as well avoid this risk - despite being minuscule - and not take the JJ)

Agree that if the risks of taking the EUA vaccine to you personally are not outweighed by the risks of the contracting the virus, then get the vaccine. Same advise I gave my parents, absolutely - Dad, get the vaccine.

I struggle with the idea that my children, who are at statistically near a zero risk of a bad outcome from COVID, should take a vaccine that has only been evaluated for the last year - and maybe long term side effects are unlikely, but they are possible, including the unlikely risk of death from a blood clot, for example. And I don't like anyone shaming them into making a bad decision that could haunt them for the next 70 years.

similar results in our house. three of us got it at a get together, we didn’t separate in the house and the other two never got it. I was actually taking a class and thought I just had allergies because it was the same symptoms I normally get in allergy season. after the symptoms went away I learned I had been exposed and tested positive. none of my classmates (nor their families for those that tout asymptotic spreading) got it, even though we were in close quarters without protocols.

I didn’t mean to trigger you. The vaccination program thus-far according to numbers is exceedingly safe. Choosing to “wait and see” is not the same as being an anti-vaxer but when foreign countries start looking to release visitors and crew, your status as not vaccinated becomes an issue, regardless of your reasoning. Now it’s possible none of this transpires, but it looks likely that vaccine status will be a consideration for getting people released from hotel quarantine.

As for the wait and see strategy, what are people wanting to see? Movement of several vaccines from EUA to a normal approval? Given that these vaccines had tons more data in testing than the annual flu shot, I’m curious what the threshold is for finally moving from the wait camp to the vaccinated camp.
