Moderna-
first shot- Arm was very sore. Similar to Tetanus shot. Went away in about 2-3 days. Very, very mild headache which may have been unrelated, and some slight fatigue.

second shot- same with the arm. About 12 hours after injection got pretty severe fatigue and chills. Woke up the next morning after sleeping 12 hours feeling decent. Very lethargic, still had some hot/cold spells. Went away in a few days.

All in all I think planning on being out of commission for 48 hours after your second is prudent. Maybe 72 for some extra buffer.

Thanks for the warning, I had my 1st Moderna a week ago, yes very sore arm for 48 hours. #2 sounds like my reaction my first typhoid shot, decades ago. In bed for two days.

My Moderna shot one was exactly as you described. Still waiting for the second jab.

I am a RN (on the side, gotta pay the bills).
Most peeps the 2nd Moderna hits them harder than the first
Most peeps plow right through the Pfizer shot (1st and 2nd)
J&J, my facility is not planning on that (yet), I am interested to see how that plays out.

My wife had moderna and outside of a sore (very on 2nd) arm, she had no side effects at all. She’s also birthed children and feels no pain. I’m not eligible yet, but am getting my affairs in order and updating my will.

Default Florida

From Monday the 15th, anybody over 60 can get the vaccine in Florida.
I snagged an appointment at Walmart for the 15th @ 10:00.
Fairly easy and the system accepted my D.O.B. right away.
Tried Publix and a few other sites, no cigar.

Got the J&J shot yesterday evening. The shot itself was highly uneventful. It definitely packed a bit more of a punch than I had expected, but overall it wasn’t bad. Not painful. Just a bit uncomfortable. As someone else compared the Moderna to, I’d liken it more to a tetanus shot than a flu shot. Within 5 minutes I couldn’t even tell that I had gotten a shot.

It wasn’t until the middle of the night that the fun began. I received the shot around 6pm. At about 3am I woke up shivering in a cold sweat, nauseous, body aches, and with a terrible headache. I piled on a few extra blankets and still couldn’t get warm. Eventually, it transitioned to an odd sensation of being cold, but very hot at the same time. By about 6am everything started to subside. Now my body still aches and I have absolutely no energy, but the worst of it has seemed to pass (for now?).

This completely caught me off guard as I’ve never been one to have any sort of reaction to vaccines. The worst has been the flu shot occasionally making me feel a little run down for a day, but never even to a point that it slowed me down at all. This J&J kicked my a**. On the bright side, I never experienced any arm soreness!

Sounds like good "reactions", that's all immune system response. Strong is good (up to a point).

Bad reactions are things like serious rashes, throat swelling, etc.

Oh I agree. I’m not concerned about it at all. They were all in the list of known possible side effects. It just took me by surprise as my body generally doesn’t respond like that to shots or medications. People just need to know that the J&J is very much capable of knocking someone on their rear for a little bit. Don’t make any big plans for the following day.

Maybe the FAA knew what they were doing with the 48-hour post-vaccine grounding.
