I’ve seen a few articles mentioning Florida specifically but I can’t find any direct quotes from the admin that call out specific states. Does anyone know where exactly this is coming from?

I don’t believe anything will become of this. It would be WILDLY unpopular.

Yes.

While the fed probably can't legally restrict intra-state travel, they might be able to restrict inter-state travel.

it will be interesting to see how states will fight any restriction in federal court.

Fourteenth Amendment, Section 1:

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. This right is most often invoked in challenges to durational residency requirements, which require that persons reside in a state for a specified period of time before taking advantage of the benefits of that state’s citizenship.

No doubt at all you have the right to travel. The question is whether the fed can limit that during an emergency.

What emergency, for crying out loud? Heart disease is a bigger emergency at this point - better lock down travel to Dunkin' Donuts.

Florida doesn’t think so:

TALLAHASSEE — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday lashed out at the Biden administration, promising that the state would strongly and swiftly oppose any attempts to block Americans from traveling to the Sunshine State.

DeSantis’ comments were in response to a Wednesday story by McClatchy that quoted an unnamed White House official saying the administration was considering imposing domestic travel restrictions, including on Florida, to stem the transmission of a new Covid-19 variant that is rapidly spreading in the state.
DeSantis, a Republican, called consideration of travel restrictions “absurd” and a “political attack on the people of Florida.” He said it would be “ridiculous” to impose curbs on domestic travel while relaxing restrictions on the U.S.-Mexico border.

“Any attempt to restrict or lock down Florida by the federal government would be an attack on our state, done purely for political purposes,” DeSantis said at a press conference in Port Charlotte, Fla. The governor also added: “I think it would be unconstitutional, it would be unwise and it would be unjust.

it's also weird how you guys still haven't gotten over the whole "what about heart disease" and "what about car crashes" etc. Like, it's not that hard to understand that the nature of these issues and the circumstances that cause them are incomparable to the public health response necessitated by covid 19. But you don't really care about nuance or facts, you're just a partisan who has been parroting the latest iteration of the covid hoax conspiracies while thinking yourself somehow enlightened. It's quite funny how dumb people think they're smart because they're too dumb to recognize how dumb they are.
