I'm not. I'm scared of politicians who pander to and encourage hysteria. Covid is part real, part hype. Vaccination programs (more are more real than covid itself, in that they work as advertised) provide an off-ramp from this insanity and give politicians (and all the hysterics) an easy out to get back to life and taxation without losing face.
You know that. Most of us here know that. But somehow a large percentage of the public got suckered by big numbers taken out of the context of the vast size of global population.

Legitimately cross-immunity (which I probably have plenty of from all my time in Asia) is hit and miss. Part of what makes this scary is that the media can always go find young, healthy-ish people who die of covid. Flu does that too, but just a bit less. I'm sure if we weren't used to the flu, and had a bad outbreak, we'd go hysterical over that too.
The one odd thing which stands out about covid to me is the preponderance of drawn-out symptoms... most people I know who had covid have some of that, none serious. But the FAA just said that stuff is disqualifying, so I'm getting the vaccine for that reason if no other. I'm also a proponent of the vaccine program in general because it provides enough legit additional safety to get many folks to crawl out from under their beds and maybe start flying again. I gave up crying about how ignorant people are a while ago, and am now just concerned with the reality of needing to make them feel safe.

Rather than just fatality rates, the possibility for vaccine-resistant strains coupled with the risks of long haul covid are my main reasons for wishing more people were comfortable being vaccinated, as well as the reason why I wouldn’t mind vaccine passports. It seems like some places will do it. I’m curious if airlines will allow us to restrict ourselves from being able to operate to certain destinations if crew members choose not to get vaccinated.

First, there will always be other strains of COVID, just as so many said a year ago before all these experts decided to scare the **** out of people.
The long haul is viruses will always be with us, some worse than others. It’s part of being a life form here on earth and none of us will live past 120.
I believe vaccines minimize the death rates and general sickness of people. They will not prevent sickness and death ever.
Vaccination requirements for foreign travel were common into the 80s. I believe all international airlines, at least in the USA, once required vaccinations for certain countries. So what’s the problem with doing that again?
If a person doesn’t want to fly internationally then don’t. But of course our WOKE mentality will call it racists, voter suppression or something similar. And then the MLB and Delta will boycott… oops that’s another thread and subject.
Truthfully, each country has the right to determine who and with what requirements people may enter their borders. It seems only in the USA has that problem these days.
Personally I’ve been trying to be vaccinated in my state, but there are zero appointments available anywhere near me.

“What types of crew are exempt from the requirements of the Order? What types of travel by crew are exempt from the requirements of the Order?Crew members on official duty assigned by the air carrier or operator that involves operation of aircraft, or the positioning of crew not operating the aircraft (i.e., on “deadhead” status), are exempt from the requirements of the Order provided their assignment is under an air carrier’s or operator’s occupational health and safety program.”
