Scoop
Should be but won’t. I don’t think there will ever be a non-political look back, or a dispassionate one. Sadly.

Anything revealed will be suspect in the eyes of someone else.

Every year that I take my kids to the doctor they test for the flu, this past year it didn’t happen.

So what? It's literally brand new. That's the point.

For months, the Masked Covidians have been screaming "Muh SCIENCE!!!1!" - despite science, including the CDC's own data, suggesting masks are near worthless. There has been a guy here who posted over and over again demanding to see scientific evidence, not just a hypothesis, that masks don't work.

Well, here you go. And the conclusion of the study is in direct contradiction to the researchers' hypothesis.

Peer reviews will come. But here's your "SCIENCE!!1!" You people don't want science. You want confirmation of your biases so you don't have to come to terms with the fact that you've been blindly following nothing for over a year.

Exactly. The argument isn't that masks don't work. Its that weak, unenforced mask MANDATES in the US were no more effective than general peer pressure.

Mask mandates with teeth in Australia and NZ wiped out the virus, but here with all the chinstraps and very thin "compliance masks" (which did nothing), we saw half of all global covid deaths pre vaccine in the USA.

All that said masks in the US slowed the virus, its doubling rate was slashed by a factor of 4 thanks to all the people shaming these morons and doing the right thing themselves. Many lives were saved.

Have a link to the “factor of 4” assertion?

Sure. Keep in mind this thing was doubling every three days with no mitigation. At that rate the whole country would have had covid within a month or two. That obviously didn't happen even when we "opened up".

What was the constant? Most people were wearing masks. The concept of a mouth and nose filter helping to mitigate an airborne contaminant is so simple my three year old gets it. Most anti masters get it too, but they have to make the argument that they don't work so they can go around spreading Covid without feeling guilty about it.

Well then, you'd better keep double masking then just to be safe!

Why double when you can quadruple?

Although, maybe it's just my own observation, but it seems the double masking has subsided just as fast it gained momentum.
