COVID-19 prophylaxis using Ivermectin
Anyone here using or considering Ivermectin for prevention or prophylaxis from COVID-19?
I called AMAS this morning to inquire about this off label use and was nearly scolded by the MD for asking. The DR said the FAA would ground you if they determined you were using IVM off label for Covid prevention. This Dr also stated that there was no data showing any effectiveness for IVM and equated it to another drug HCQ. This was surprising because according to the medicine database IVM can be used on label with a ground trial to ascertain any adverse side effects prior to exercising your privileges. I asked if he could provide a reference to the FAA’s policy on this particular use and he said there was none and it has only been verbally communicated to them. I asked if a random drug screen would show its use, I knew it would not, and the Dr said no, it would not. It seems strange that the Dr indicated that the FAA would undertake a punitive measures if somehow they found out you were using a drug that is otherwise permitted with few restrictions in this off label use.

New meta analysis by UK research team Tess Lawrie et al indicates 62% reduction in all cause mortality for treatment of the disease, and 86% reduction in risk of cv19 infection for prophylactic use in health care workers and covid 19 contacts. As I understand it the WHO is advising against vaccinating children, but the alphabet agencies here are pushing to give it to the kids. Go ahead, I’m sure it will work out.
