The left loves a lefty dictator. If you can’t convince people to do what you want, if nobody trusts you, just make a mandate. You only have to look as far as his speech to see that he doesn’t think the vaccine works. (Protect vaccinated from the unvaccinated.) Which would be exactly why people don’t trust the government.

Why do you think this issue has fallen predominantly along party lines?

I’m definitely against forcing people to get it in principal.

Although as we’ve seen with the general anti-Vax movement pre-covid is you saw emergence of virus pockets for viruses that were all but stamped out because of required vaccination programs for schools. So there is precedent for this and is proven to work.

I also think what shy guy posted here isn’t completely unreasonable when it comes to airline employees. We’d all be up a creek if it weren’t for the billions in taxpayer money that was handed to our companies in pretty short order and more than once. Rolling up your sleeve is a small price to pay for what we got in the last year.

Further, for anyone that got a personal stimulus payment in the last two years there is probably a case for requiring vaccination unless they have a legitimate medical reason for being unable to be vaccinated. Now, requiring it after the money was given is a bit akin to blackmail. Perhaps it should’ve been a condition of receiving the money in the first place. Then folks would’ve had a real choice. Get the money and get the shots or forego it and take on the risk. If we use United pilots as a case study it’s pretty clear that almost everyone will get the shots if it’s a requirement for getting free money.

1) the two are completely unrelated. Literally not even close to what I was talking about, I was responding to Oofff about this being an employer/employees choice.

2) airlines don’t owe it to the government to force vaccines on their employees. If the airlines had not been bailed out our transportation infrastructure would have been decimated, we paid it back by being ready to go when people needed to move and will continue to pay it back by paying taxes.

3) this mandate extends to ALL employers with 100 or more employees out there not just airlines…well almost all, funny how the post office with ~600,000 employees is magically exempt after their union, who endorsed Biden, opposed this measure.

GMAFB with your drivel about how good this is, regardless of how you feel about this vaccine (I’m personally pretty pro) this is a wild overreach by the federal government. Period.

you can’t change the terms after the fact, if you had tied it to the 3rd stimulus payment at the time sure, but it is absolutely wrong to say since you got some of your money back when the government trashed the economy, you now have to do something you had no idea you were going to be volunteered for, even though you did not get a choice in whether or not you got the money.
