Default Amtrak Service Cuts Possible, 6%, no jab

This is probably behind a paywall so after the link I'll post a few bullet points.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/trans...iNAgfc3wsJgAYg

-Amtrak Preps for possible service cuts as employee vax deadline approaches on Jan. 4th
-still 6% of workforce have not provided proof of Vax and can be terminated which may result in service cuts
-some labor unions are hoping a lawsuit filed in Federal Court in Chicago can delay terminations and service reductions.

2.2 million miles??

I guess I believe that’s plausible in the sleeper car; the back of his head is as flat as a baby not picked up for months…

Cruise ship with fully Vaxxed crew and fully Vaxxed passengers has COVID outbreak. Maybe we ought to just open up and "return to normal" finally.

I'm not sure what you're saying? No one is saying that vaccination will keep you from contracting covid? It's about preventing severe illness and deaths.

Amtrack employees 17,500

https://www.amtrak.com/content/dam/p...020-041921.pdf

Most of the people not taking the poison are engineers. 6% of 17,500 is 1,050. When that amount includes most of your engineers, yes, it is going to have impact IF they decide to terminate. Which right now Amtrak has not terminated yet for jab compliance as the fed mandate has been slipped to Jan 4th, or maybe the 8th or 16th? Heck I can't remember it moves so much lately.

The mandate is being fought by the representative labor unions of the Amtrak employee groups.

For the WaPo:

"The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) and the Transportation Division of the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers (SMART-TD) earlier this month filed a lawsuit against Amtrak, calling the policy “unlawful.” The unions say Amtrak has no authority to enforce a vaccination mandate among employees, and that doing so without negotiating with unions is a violation of federal labor law."

It is going to have an impact, Amtrak has admitted so.
