Default C100 VBs

Just talked to my buddy who was at the MSP LEC meeting a few days ago. I guess they had a conference call with the crew resources HMFIC.

Among other things (my buddy was not optimistic about the future MSP fleet picture), the company guy stated that the C100 would be set up for an LAX base--and a mid-continent VB.

We've got to eliminate the VB as soon as we can unilaterally cancel it. The company has shown it is not afraid to unilaterally impose its terms on us outside the contract (i.e., uncoordinated FOM changes, C+ upgrade degradation, etc).

Why DALPA will allow us to get bent over like this.... when they have the VB hammer to weild...is beyond me.

Grow a pair, DALPA. Tell managment you intend to pull VBs as soon as you can, and let them squirm.

A mid continent virtual base with the C series? The plane is not on the property. Nobody is trained. How soon can they get this VB up and running? Walk me through this one.

I can easily see it being DFW. Large number of DL pilots still live there.. cs100/300 perfect plane from Dallas area to west coast and other thin point routes. I agree implementation will be awhile off but you can bet they are planning it to some degree.

This mid-content rumor makes no sense to me. Posted on ChitChat:

Why take an airplane that has coast-to-coast range and base it in the middle of the country? From DFW you could pretty much fly to anywhere in the country (and Mexico) with a B717. I would think the CS-100 makes more sense for long, thin routes like SEA or LAX to, say RDU or something. (City that's too far for a B717 but too small to support larger planes.) And wasn't it the case that management always wanted a 100-seat jet so they could fly to the west coast from ATL? Same thing, long, thin routes like ATL to SMF or PSP. But what do I know?

Making it a VB gives the company the flexibility to move it around as they figure out how to use the new game changing capability. Putting it in an existing base just makes it more difficult and expensive to move around establishing and then removing with AEs and the displacements it would cause would cascade to other fleets and bases. Just like moving the 777 from NYC to DTW and then to LAX.

I'm sure they will try to use the VBs to their advantage in all cases going forward once they are established as not threatened by DALPA. An annual renewal would pacify the MEC but never really end them. Wait for it... NN 18-01 Why VBs are good for you! ...we keep our leverage... (NOT)

DFW, ORD, MEM, CVG, DEN, MCI, BNA, STL, IND... We could change the base every month. Good times!

...or eagle vision, this isn't just some thing they thought of and said see if we can get a side letter. This is strategic, it was billed as the biggest pilot position reducer of all the productivity gains. Just like MEC approval for brand livery, it's there for a reason. That reason is not to help out commuters.

All I'm saying is give it a chance before crying wolf and demanding a shutdown. It may be determined not to be in our best interests but to demand it shutdown before even being tried could be the basis of a bad faith bargaining lawsuit from the company. Don't wanna go there. If, after a trial run, it's determined to not be what we thought, okay, shut it down.

The sky is not always falling...
