I really miss the low tech days where you could list in the back and fill out a paper slip. It was WAY easier, WAY more accurate and transparent, and insured you got a ride in proper priority if at all possible. Under this "modern" system sometimes you have to guess and can be left at the gate while an OAL pilots pushed back in either the JS or a first class seat. Seen it happen plenty. Couple that with the zero context "D-Zero" panic and its literally more difficult and less accurate than it was quite a while ago. |

You have to go to Icrew, NRSA, jumpseat/deadhead, verify Jumpseat occupants. Code DLC is a F/A and code DLJ is a cockpit jumpseater. Also let's you see when and how they made the listing.
Easiest way to figure it out is when you look at the nonrev list and you see a double entry. for instance you see MAR/T then the next is MAR/T on the standby list. Then when you look at the airport standby list you see that only one is checked in. So if you do what you say above you will see who has the jumpseat list and if the initials are add up to MAR/T then they are double listed. Makes a difference when there are very few seats left. Used to see it a lot with really senior momma's and if there was the potential for a first class seat and getting left behind on the same flight. And just for everyone reading those initials I used were made up. |
You can also just go to "check Jumpseat availability" in icrew....Can look at both pilot and FA

Can't speak for the FA's but when pilots list for the cockpit jump seat the name also appears automatically on the non rev standby list. That's what the OP was referencing. It's not a matter of people dual listing.

The flustered gate agent handed him his seat and told me probably not enough time "list me for the JS"..... luckily a pleasant patience paid off and she decided to list me all the while being very disgusted at the pilot that was dual listed and cleared. |

About 6 months ago I nearly missed a LA-ATL flight due to a Captain who was married to a senior mama FA who had listed (and been cleared for the one and only seat in back, I was #2) under his wifes privileges, all the while he had checked in for his reserved jumpseat. So insued the panicked confusion at D-10 when the agent cleared the one and only seat all the while the jumpseater came up and said, "oh,thats me, I like to ensure the best seat possible."
