There were indeed offsets but his question was specific to the monthly shift. It was probably the biggest single gain since PBS.

We don't need VB for that, they do that now. I finally get the seniority to snag 31 hour layover where my truck happens to be parked, and 4 reroutes later it's all gone.

Agree. We need to put an end to this VB stuff now! If they want a pilot base, make it a pilot base and allow the pilots to bid on it through the normal AE process.

How do we actually Eliminate virtual bases? Will it go to a pilot vote and when?

I know I've had it happen to many times. We don't need another base for this to occur.

I totally agree. Biggest threat with VB is not up front, it's in the future when contract concessions are needed. Legal language written to govern VB will suddenly have a price on it. Pandora's box will be opened and a can of worms unleashed. Keep the camel's nose out of the tent.

That is all fine and IT issues might very well be a factor but there is no condition in the MOU predicated upon IT implementation. If the company wants/needs to extend the originally agreed-upon date because of IT issues, what did/are we getting for it? God knows that is the proverbial question when we want something.

I'm against VBs. The ONLY reason for them to exist is to reduce overall staffing needs. The beneficiaries of a VB would benefit a heck of a lot more with a REAL base.

I would be quite surprised if our current (or recent) MEC is PRO-VB. Before getting all spooled-up, a quick message to one of our officers for their perspective might give some insight.
