06 nov ae

After further internal discussions following the CS100 preliminary tariff proposals from the U.S. Department of
Commerce, we have decided to delay posting the November 6th AE. We still have a significant volume of
training from the May AE and we will concentrate on converting those pilots. We now expect to offer the next
AE in January or February 2018.

This AE has been planned for the past six months and is intended to make
small staffing adjustments for the summer 2018 period (with better fidelity following receipt of the 2018
plan). We currently expect to open positions on three fleets: the A320 (supports aircraft delivery), the A330
(increased block hours related to the 2018 plan) and the A350 (support aircraft delivery). We will also need to
re-bid several unfilled positions from the May AE. These positions are on the 717, M88, 73N and 7ER.

We will closely monitor the final determination from the U.S. International Trade Commission; if the outcome is
favorable, it could result in the addition of CS100 bases as early as the next AE.
As always, AE postings are subject to change as information is updated.

Oh well. I feel bad for those new hires that just need to switch bases to get home, and they could, if there was just a small AE to do it.

I was considering bidding M88A. I guess somebody was looking out for me. Now I’ve got a couple more months to come to my senses!;)

I think they have meetings for that.

Cards,
"Hi...my name is Go Cards"

Group,
"Hi Go Cards"

Cards,
"I was gonna bid M88A....maybe in NYC.
"Thankfully the Nov AE never came. I'll be OK for a couple of month but I keep wanting to bid it."

Group,
"It's ok. Lots of people THINK about doing it.
FTB is going to be your emergency contact. Call him any time if you start to lose it"

I’d be surprised if there are any more M88A positions available on future AE’s. Plane is slowly retiring and they filled a ton of openings on the May AE.

The year bid has not worked out well. They just put out to expect bids every 60 to 90 days in the future.

Yes, I think the idea behind a big bid (displace 747 and NYC M88) was decent. The issue I think is the constantly changing aircraft and network landscape behind the aircraft staffing. If Flight Ops puts out a big bid that effectively goes once a year, that requires a certain amount of certainty by network of where they want the airplanes to be. In May, they couldn't guess that Network would add a bunch of M88 flying the fall. Thus the problem..

I thought there was some kind of requirement for an AE to come out several times a year? And it's already been mentioned, but what about new hires that get stuck with a base they don't want, couldn't they run a small AE without the C-series for them?
