Or you don't.
You need to understand Chinese business practice and ethics (or lack thereof).

In China an employment contract only protects the employer, who is free to make changes at will with or without the employee's permission. Negotiate anything you want, it doesn't mean they will honor it.

Employee's roles are to make the employer money. Employees should be grateful that the employer hired them and lets them continue to have a job. And the boss is always right, never ever question them.

And in Asian culture, the teaching technique is through fear and intimidation. They believe if you ridicule and punish, the student will learn. Remember that when you go to training. The Instructor is a god walking the earth and shall be treated as such.

Oh, and if you don't like any of this? Good luck in taking them to court over your contract. Foreigners have less rights than do nationals.

The take away is the shortage of pilots and the constant rise in compensation.

The shortage is created by the Chinese by their method of operation. And in true form the way the Chinese feel they can "fix" the problem is to throw money at it.

If the Chinese truly wanted to solve their pilot problem they need to bring in some western management and also adopt more of a western attitude towards professional employees.

Don't hold your breath on that happening.

For the few that can’t hold WB captain their last few years, is this possibly a good deal to maximize earnings before retirement?
