And the party has just begun.

Even if they got all the Aussie pilots, that would fill a thimble. They will need thousands of U.S. pilots.

Probably worth pointing out, that they're only paying the highest $$ for senior check and training guys. Your regular line driver will get about 60% of that.

The Chinese are on the march and they know westerners are motivated by money, which they have in eye watering amounts.

A very good mate of mine, mid 40's and a 73 Captain has done the sums and thinks he can earn enough in China to retire in 8 years as opposed to spending the next 20 being f&$cked royally with Australian taxes.

The tax implications can get complex with some of these foreign carriers. How much time in country etc.

In China it's never as Rosy as it looks. I know dozens of guys who worked for various Chinese companies. They all had several horror stories to share.
No thanks. But great to see those salaries climbing.

There's a reason the Chinese are offering so much and it's not because it's a primo job.

There are so many pitfalls and hidden stuff I don't know where to start. In the end those who go over there chasing the big dollars often leave very disappointed.

And don't forget the wonderful medicals one must endure.

The short answer? No Way and No Thanks.

I think what people don't understand is they HAVE to pay that much to lure people away from a pretty easy legacy job in the states. If they beat Delta rates by $100,000, no one is going to leave the security of their Legacy job to go fly for some shady Chinese company 180 days a year. You have to use economics to overcome all the negative aspects of working over there, and from what my friends who work over there say, it isn't worth it. In fact, many who took jobs in the Middle East making more than some Captains make here are still trying to get on with a legacy in the states.
