Vacation awards...must have done it wrong....

So I put in about 20 weeks in the initial bid for vacation. I got my first choice awarded, but not a second week awarded. I probably did something wrong. I thought it went through the initial bid and awarded your weeks until all your vacation was used up? Or, do I bid the second week on the secondary bid?

Must have missed that section in the vacation guidance by ALPA......

You can't bid two seperate weeks on the first bid. You can specify to use your second week attached to your first week in the bid if you want. Otherwise you use up the rest of your weeks on the subsequent bids.

You only get one award per round. If any of the weeks you want are left, put in a bid for round two.

You can use all of your weeks in that one award on the primary bid if you want to though. They just have to be attached to the week you bid.

Got it! In the event I want to now take my awarded week and connect it to another vacation week awarded in the 2nd round....how does that take place?

You simply bid the week that adjoins your current week. If you are awarded it your done. You can view weeks available in round two in DBMS. If not you can try and move it later in the move up process. What you should have done is bid your initial week and ask for 2 weeks to be awarded at that time. It appears you put a 1 in the number of weeks column.
Another option is to buy additional days from the bank and attach them to your primary vacation. If done by 1 APR the company must allow it.

Understood; Vacation bidding isn't a huge thing for me; no kids and I always make it work, somehow. So if I want to move the week I got award in the primary to another month and adjoin it with a second week, my only option would be to wait for a "move up" bid?

There is no "drop and swap" like with picking up trips?

No dropping of VAC. You can swap with another pilot, at least in theory—it’s akin to the PSB for trips, minus the drops, but without any mechanism in place to do so. It’s on you to find another pilot in category with the exact same number of VAC days (including any SUPP added and/or reductions) who wants to trade.

The move-ups are automated in iCrew: if the week(s) you want are available, you’ll get it.

Do the move ups only happen the month of the vacation?
