I read this today driving to Mammoth Ski resort from San Diego. Four of us in the car, Delta and UAL Pilots, two of which left a top corporate job flying G650s and 550s to come back to the legacies after furloghs years ago.
The main reason they came back - QOL and control over their schedules. Almost zero control at the corporate gig. If they
100% needed off they had to take vacation.

How many part 121 pilots quit the majors and leave for corporate (assuming they're not on furlough)? How many corporate pilots turn around and do the exact opposite? Debate ended, mods please close the thread.

Am also retired military. Was flying a GLEX for about the same you're making as well. Left after two years for Delta...wasn't about the money, it came down to schedule, total value of the 401K offered by DAL over the long haul, and of course the schedule and overall QOL.
I had a pretty sweet gig on my particular corporate account, all expenses covered, Marriott properties, kept all points, "Platinum/Diamond/Elite" memberships for the respective hotel chains, rental car agencies and airline of my choice for commuting. Approximately 300 hours per year, domestic and international, with great management to boot.
In the end, it came down to being able to drop the phone at the end of a rotation and not pick it up again until my next scheduled event...QOL is defined differently by everyone, but for me it really comes down to controlling my schedule.

I think the guy who brought up the point about how many Delta pilots leave for Corporate flying brings up a great point as well. I don't know any!

[QUOTE= I'm already making over 200K (salary, 401K, PS) and am only on 2nd year pay at DL. [/QUOTE]
The Dude: How is this possible? Are you flying maximum, picking up green slip trips, getting displaced by check-airman, then picking up trips?

I did $210,000 if you include pay, profit sharing, and 401k contribution with part of my year on 2nd year pay and part of my year on 3rd year pay as a 717 FO. It's really not that hard. I didn't feel like I worked that hard. I bid reserve. Sometimes I bid the first parts of the month off to maximize GS opportunities. Most of the time, I bid weekends off and only flew GS if I felt like it. This is a really good job. I'm making more money than I have ever made, working less than I have ever worked, and I like my job.
