LHR layover restaurants and Big Bus tour
So I've been there a few times recently but haven't been paying attention to where we ate. I remember the pub/restaurant near HI Close. Out to the left, cross the street, go down a narrow street/alley, turn right, its on the right about 100 yds. Whats the name of it? Also, there's a pub on a corner, walking distance to hotel, thats a pub/Thai restaurant. where is that and whats the name? Any other suggestions? Finally, can you get the Big Bus tour double deckers near the hotel (Kensington) and do they go into central London for all the sites?

You can pick up the bus in front of the Gloucester Rd Tube stop. It heads over to Marble Arch Area as kind of a dispatch area where guides switch and take breaks (recommend the live guide over the headset, as they are generally quite funny), so you can take a quick Tube to Marble Arch as a starting point as well if desired. And yes, they hit all the sites in Central London.
Can't help with eateries close by as I never munch near the hotel. |
Devonshire Arms is really close. Also, Scarsdale Pub is a little better food. Not sure which Thai place you’re thinking. There is one right next to the hotel.

Try London walks. Each tour is about 2 hours no reservations required and they meet at subway stops. The bus tour is something to do but realize it can be slow. Imperial war meuseum is a must. And if you like soccer or sports at all so many teams to see at good prices.

Belgo Centraal in Covent Garden is fun. Rules nearby as are almost any Indian restaurant.

Churchill Arms is the Pub/Thai restaurant. It’s on Kensington Church street about a 10-15 min walk from the Holiday Inn Close.
Go up to Kensington High St, turn right for a block and then turn left by St Mary’s church (hence the street name). It’s another 5 min walk or so on the left before you get to Knotting Hill. |

Da Mario’s for Italian and Memories of India are 2 of the best restaurants I’ve found. They are across from each other on Gloucester Rd North of Cromwell.
The RAF Museum is really cool, ad is the British Museum. The best is the James Bond exhibit at the London Film Museum near Covent. |
