I wrote my reps and told them I want VBs removed. Complaining here will do nothing to make it happen, I'd like to encourage everybody else here who agrees with me to do the same. I don't think I'm allowed to post their email addresses here or I'd do so (mods?). For those who want action and not words, login to the DALPA site here: https://www.alpa.org/dal
There are many ways to get the emails, easiest way is to click on "contact us" at the top of the screen, then click on your council, and you'll have the email addresses. As proven by our poor survey participation, the pilot group as a whole is apathetic at best. The group here is obviously more involved and (likely) informed. Take the 10 minutes to send an email and make your voice heard.

Check with your Reps and ask them if you can post their E-mails on APC. If its OK with them feel free to post the links.

Tom and Dave,
I would like to ask that virtual bases be shut down as soon as possible. Since it will cost approximately 47 jobs for virtual bases and TDY I do not feel it is good for the pilot group as a whole.
I have heard (rumor) that MCO will test 60 ER pilots in June.
Virtual bases are on a test basis, can be discontinued by us, and should be.
Additionally, if 60 pilots go to MCO then some schedules will be affected at regular pilot bases.

Q. Will Virtual Bases decrease pilot staffing to minimum levels at those bases that are not yet at minimum levels? What impact will Virtual Bases have on the total number of pilots needed system wide? Will Virtual Bases make scheduling changes more difficult?
A. Virtual basing and TDY are projected to offset about 47 of the 73 jobs that will be created by the increases to vacation and CQ training pay. Neither of provisions are expected to have an impact on the numbers of pilots above the minimum staffing formula that the Company carries in various positions. As such, there should be no change to how readily a pilot can adjust his schedule today.

Somebody gets it! 47 jobs sound the alarm. Hundreds of jobs - nothing to see here move on.
The company negotiators must laugh at how easily we are distracted.
Remember C2012? ALV+15 - the end of the world, yet 30 day summer months (many times more impactful) - no worries.
I will say this about VBs - there is the definite threat of them starting out harmlessly, producing minimal impact and then morphing into something a lot more detrimental if we are stupid enough to acquiesce and agree to make them permanent.
If we ever relinquish the ability to pull them down unilaterally then we are truly idiots.

Word. VB don't scare me at all.

“The death of one is a tragedy, but the deaths of a million is a statistic.”
It’s easy to emotionally focus on 47 jobs, but it is tough to completely wrap heads around the losses caused by flying above ALV+15.
To be fair, I think both are a bad deal.

Cognitive dissonance. I guarantee that at least 1 or 2 people in here complaining about VB not only don't care about flying above ALV+15, they actively participate in flying over ALV+15. Probably use their remaining spare time to OOBWS when there are no reserves just to put a righteous "it's in the contract I can do it" cherry on top...
