Where will the displaced 88 folks go?

With all the Maddog shuffling over the past couple years, its hard to keep track of how many there are and where. Where do you guys think the majority of these displaced folks will end up? Is the NYC drawdown already accounted for or are there still holdouts there? Are the 321/73 deliveries going to keep most of them in their current location? Is this going to continue the steady erosion of MSP? Junior minds want to know!

I suspect that the M88 Captains will go to the 737/320 in the same base (if they can hold it and are local or like their commute). But, all bets are really off - from watching previous displacements, it's really a crapshoot where people go. Some go back to being an FO on larger equipment, some stay with the airplane and switch bases, some stay as Captain on the different airplane.

The only thing is that some of the M88 Captains are pretty junior (maybe not MSP but ATL it's true) so they can't go to another Captain seat and have to go back to the right seat.

I don't fly for Delta, but man i'm going to miss that old relic. Last little bit left of the old airline days.

MSP doesn't have a lot of commuters. If they don't offset the displacements with 320/73N growth, they will find themselves commuting to DTW/ATL/NYC and fly the 320/73N/717.

Learflyer, anytime you feel nostalgic for the -88 you can enjoy her dulcet tones by watching this solemn tribute: https://youtu.be/X5Nddqf51pA

What’s really disconcerting is when you call V1 and the trim warning goes off. I can’t say I’ll miss the Maddog, and I’m one of the junior guys who will have to go to the right seat although I’m hoping for MD-95 captain.

Or when you call "gear up" and the takeoff config warning goes off...on your first leg of OE. It was actually a pretty accurate introduction in retrospect.

Just a guess here, but all M88 flying is supposed to fall back to Atlanta after this summer. My guess is this AE will go a long way towards closing the MSP M88 catagory. And I think I remember seeing projections that put Atl M88 at about 100 less crews than its at today.

They said by the end of next summer ATL will have about 750 crews, which is about what it's at now.
