Default 16apr AE SURPLUSES

ATLM88CAPT 50
DTW777CAPT 10

DTW777F/O 16

I thought it's a little better than expected. I heard up to 60 ATL ER As and 120 ATL M88 As could have been displaced.
Where would this folks end up, any ideas?
How soon?

Conversion through 1 NOV 2018

Another dud AE.

Bye-bye DTW777.

Best of luck to the ATL 88A's.

Good thing there are no "massive retirements" on the horizon.

ATL 88A will go to ER/73/320 right seat.
DTW 777 will be interesting

Was DTW777 expected? I hadn’t heard about that. No more 74, no more 77, and only 15 350’s to pick up the slack? Any more to the story? 330-900’s?

I agree on the DTW 777. The bottom 16 FOs are from 8,500 up to 6,000 seniority. That is the middle of the pack on the DTW 350. The bottom 10 captains are in the 500-1000 range. That puts them in the top half of DTW 350. You would really have to hate Airbus and Virginia Avenue not to take that MD. It's a free A350 conversion with no training freeze.

I hadn't heard about the 777 but it does make sense in hindsight, they can put more 350s in DTW to cover the 777 flying out of there so there's no reason to have another base in DTW. As long as they have at least as many 350 openings as 777 surpluses as it goes away it seems like it could have minimal impact.

Yeah they jumped the gun putting that base there in the first place then had to eat it for a long time with all DH trips and the psychological/sea lawyer SC issues that caused. Surprised it didn't close a while ago.

The 350 will create more jobs than the 74 and 777 combined at DTW

Default surplus meaning?

Gang,

For those of you that have been in Delta longer than I, what exactly does the "Surplus" mean. I know what it means in English (peanut gallery), but how does this affect or not affect anything?

Thanks
