Default Delta va FedEx career earnings

Hi Everyone,

Could somebody tell me where to find the slide presentation about projected earnings for a Delta pilot vs a FedEx pilot?
I remember seeing it in 2016.

Thank you.

That seems like a tall task predicting the next 30 years

I was bored and had excel handy. Using a VERY rough wag the advantage would go to FedEx at a number around $500,000 over a 30 year career. Granted that's only around 10% of your total 30 year earnings.

Caveats:
- No idea what the upgrade time is at FedEx (matched WB time at DAL)
- Only calculated with one move from FO to CA in that 30 years for simplification
- No factor for potential pay increases
- No factor for pay other than hourly rate x 1,000 hours/year (i.e. no per diem, profit sharing, 401(k), etc.)

Are we factoring in life expectancy post-retirement?

Does FedEx have a pension plan?

I believe so, but I was thinking more about actual years of life post retirement DL v FE.

The video was Delta vs. UPS Contract comparison, and came out after the UPS TA2016 and before the Delta TA2.

I would recommend paying close attention to all the assumptions made...

FedEx:

- 2/3 years for 757 Captain @ FedEx
- 1,200 hours/year is fairly easy to do (probably not difficult at Delta either)

FedEx does have a pension (2% for each year of service up to 25yrs) which would max out at 50% of 260k. Essentially, $130k per year pension.

There’s surprisingly a fair amount of daytime flying. I’m only flying the backside of the clock twice this month at about 1 yr Seniority.

I've had it stated to me with authority that Fedex/UPS pilots die soon after retirement. When asked, no one has ever been able to provide any evidence whatsoever to back it up.

There is a study of shift workers, they were not pilots.

Delta has plenty of back side of clock flying. Anything international comes to mind, or say LAX 73N

Trying to predict the future is an ugly business. If you look backwards, don't think FEDEX furloughed, the package model seems stable, and they were paying great while pax carriers were putting folks on the street and taking pensions away.

I'm at DL and love it, but I won't cast any spears towards FEDEX. Great company. Given a perfect world and two offers starting the same day, I'd figure out which one has a base you want to live in and don't look back.

I would think if you live in base, Delta would be competitive with FedEx. It wouldn't be close for a commuter, FedEx beats by well over a million in career earnings.
