Arcos

Maybe I missed something, but I was ASSuming if you don't put in for a green slip, you won't get called.
Is this new system putting everyone in the hoppper for notification (regardless of whether or not you submitted a GS) like when they get desperate and are doing Inverse Assignments?

Why would this change? Wouldn't that required a change to the assignment ladder in the contract?

I have a feeling a lot of people are going to get paid for being bypassed when they roll out ARCOS. When they send telephone calls out for everyone on a GS, how will they make sure the senior pilot gets the trip? On IA's, they send robo calls out and whomever calls scheduling first gets the trip. I hope the GS assignments don't turn out like this.

I am trying to figure out how ARCOS will work. Can’t find anything that really explains it. The only thing I can figure is it calls everyone at once. After 10 minutes it looks at everyone who responded and awards it to the senior person. If so it’s going to start ringing people’s phones all night long if your in a big understaffed category.

I hope it does not turn out like you post. On a IA if it’s more than 3 hours to report they must allow 10 minutes to respond. If not you should be paid for the trip.

Someone like me in the 12,000s could get a call at 2am for a trip that will get picked up by one of the 50+ senior people who get the same call. That will get old real quick. It would be nice if it's set up so the 5-10 most senior people get the call at once vs everyone who's legal for the GS.

The implementation plan described a few months ago, was notification of a limited group (5 was the example used) of pilots with GS that matched the criteria. If none of the 5 took the GS within the time allotted, it went on to the next 5, etc. If multiple pilots responded, it was awarded in seniority order. The intention was to reduce the timeline required for GS coverage while honoring seniority and limiting the blast radius of notifications.

Other than that, input your do not call times or use do not disturb on your phone. Most phones have the ability to set numbers that can call through if needed, if you're worried about missing important calls.

ARCOS is bad for guys who live in base. Expect to see less greenslips. For guys who live out of base this is great for you.
Scheduling said they can cover trips way easier and quicker with ARCOS giving people way more notice when a greenslip pops up.
Personally I live in base so this is not a good thing from my opinion.
