Violates off day grouping requirement

Does anyone know what this ACTUALLY means? the PWA and the Scheduling handbook dont shed any light on this. Im trying to move some rsv days around that are adequately staffed, and cant figure out why its denying my request with the dreaded "Violates off day grouping"

Thanks

Depends on your category, but I'll use most NB categories which have 3-99-5. What this means to you is you can have no fewer than 3 consecutive on-call days at a time and you can have no more than 5 groupings of off days. The 99 is n/a for any realistic schedule so you can ignore it. For reference, check out the first few pages of any bid package which will explain these rules in depth.

Okay thank you very much! It all makes sense now :D

Also you cannot create more off day groupings than you were originally awarded. Say you have 3 off day groupings after initial bid you cannot move days to have 4 sets of days. At least that is how it was explained to me.

That is correct. Has bit me a couple of times.

I submit this should be fixed in C19. There is no good reason for it.

WTH is the reasoning behind that? I can see the minimum days on requirement, but other than that all the other grouping requirements need to be scrapped.

As a reserve pilot, you can have more off groupings than originally awarded. I do not know about as a line holder.

You can as a line holder too....up to the max P/U limit. 🤣
