My side hustle is doing the hustle, and people pay me to stop.

Working as real estate agent a bad thing?

I currently work as a 320 FO for a major US airline and am hoping to get hired on at Delta. My current job is my first airline, I got to them through their rotor transition program. As such, I'm only at about 400 hrs airplane turbine time so the recuiters at Delta won't look at me yet. It's going to be anywhere from six months to two years before I can get to 1000 hrs based on if I'm able to get a line or if I end up on reserve each month.

I have my real estate agent license and haven't done much with it in the last few years but I'm going to start doing a lot more work with it to earn some extra money on days I'm not flying/on reserve. Will it be a red flag to the recuiters at Delta if they google me and find FB posts and/or info on my brokerage's website showing that I work as a real estate agent? Would my application get put to the side because they would think I wasn't committed to my primary job as a pilot?

I don't think so. Lot's of folks have side hustles. I highly doubt they would even look at your FB before the interview (if at all). If it came up, it would be an easy explanation.

With anything you perceive to be a 'negative' in an interview, find a way to turn it into a strength, if possible. An easy example is a check ride failure. "I learned a lot from that experience, have never did X again, and it has actually made me a better pilot because I now pay close attention to X."

Good luck!

To add to this, I'd think they'd love the customer service aspect of your job and how it could translate to you as a customer facing employee.

Break Break

Since we're in the side hustle thread and you're a realtor. If you don't already know the great benefits of being in real estate as an airline pilot, check out the Passive income pilots podcast. That combo could be great to build up a very nice side hustle. A good friend was doing this before the PIP came out (with 20+ properties) and his ability to write down his Delta income is eye watering.
