Yeah- good luck with that theory....not sure if 1/4 of the MSP88 guys (both A & B) could be awarded the 330B. Doubt any will be senior enough to be awarded 330A....

Keep in mind that the MSP 330 base plan is to fund it from block hours that become available as A330-900’s are delivered. Those deliveries are not expected until Spring. If they do post the opening on this bid conversions will be at least 9 months out unless they decide to over staff 330 manning.

Take it for what it's worth. Went to 88 recurrent. First instructor who is also a line pilot said the next AE will have 75 A and B seat displacements in ATL in addition to the already announced MSP shutting down. Only thing I can think of is bookings might look soft going forward and the 88 is our shock absorber. We'll see if true at the beginning of July.

Thanks.
As a follow-on, how will the company deal with displacements vs. seniority in the expanding MSP categories? I understand how displacements and secondary displacements work in a static category but not in a growing category. For example let's use MSP320B where the plug is 12,495. Hypothetically, if they advertised only 1 position for MSP320B and only 2 people bid it: somebody (who was not displaced) with a seniority number of 12,000 a displaced MSP88B with a seniority number of 12,496, who would get the vacant position?
The question just boils down to the statement flight ops made in that they intend to replace M88 positions 1:1 in MSP. If somebody already in MSP wants to stay in MSP are they guaranteed to stay there or can somebody senior from another base snipe those positions?

Disregard...I said I read the thread, but that doesn’t mean I understood the question.

It's not as much as you'd think. According to the "Commuter Calculator" on the ALPA site, only 112 pilots living within 150 miles of MPS and commute to JFK. For DTW, that number is 138. Across all categories... So really not that many.
All I know is there are plenty of 6 day trips with a MSP layover on the 330 that show up in the DTW 330B open time. So, more trips than there are FOs who bid them apparently. Sure, there are some DTW/NYC 330 guys who will jump to a MSP base, but it's not tons.
