Is Your Category Actually Over Staffed?

Hi All,

I am trying to get some perspective as to how other categories are presently staffed. I am a ATL 73NB around 50% and can't finish a trip without getting a green slip or inverse assignment call. While I am certainly not complaining, I am just trying to understand the metrics behind why there is a freeze in hiring. By looking at the daily trip coverage you can see that many FO's are already on their third green slip of the month. I have only been here a few summers and while I haven't seen it like this before I am starting to wonder if this is the new normal.

Are any narrow body aircraft actually overmanned, or is it just cheaper to run the operation on green slips ?

NYC 717A is overmanned.

Blue coverage all month.

2-3 GS's/month for the entire category.

Um sorry that looks properly staffed to me. Blue all month long. That's the way it should be. Reserves should be used for last minute rotations and a few odd ball ****ty rotations.

It won’t last. Second half of August, the green slips will dry up. Enjoy them while they last. ATL 73N B went from being over-staffed with over 360 pilots to under-staffed with just over 300 pilots. It happens. Also like to add that GSWC aren’t happening and flights are not being cancelled. I think the new thing is to use the reroute computer to cut back staffing which will hurt our quality of life, but improve our paychecks.

That's what I thought too, but apparently they haven't gotten the memo on reserve usage for the 88 in ATL. I haven't done one trip in the last two months that didn't have at least one reroute. With or without IROPS.

NYC 73N B, I’ve gotten 2 GSWC calls in the last month. Constantly getting GS calls with high ALV and mostly hard time trips. We were quite fat not too long ago but bare bones this summer. I expect it to improve once the summer schedule winds down. The most recent AE will have a lot of NYC 73B guys leaving.

ATL320A.... SILs were given out, I’ve flown every day on reserve with green slips going out nearly every day.

I’m an ATL 88A and I’ve been on reserve all year. I haven’t broken 100 hours yet. April, May and it’s looking like July I won’t have flown at all. I’m getting a lot done around the house and my golf game is improving.
