Default Current Kevin O’Mahoney Com

From KO's com today:

"I am guilty of doing exactly that, and there is no excuse for it. I allowed my emotions to overcome my discretion, and the only way I can make amends is to change my behavior. Actions prove intentions, so I have since removed myself from all Facebook groups and Internet forums associated with Delta. From now on anything I have to say will be spoken directly."

Communication is kind of a job requirement.

Communication with management, with other Reps, with Committees, with the Admin and most importantly . . . with his constituents and those he supposedly would represent.

Roast me, enjoy yourselves, but I agree somewhat with the paragraphs above his social media message. Label me whatever, I don’t care, but the top paragraphs are just history. He added some of his personal thoughts, but broad strokes are true.

Unfortunately, I agree in mindset with his social media message. Been guilty of it myself from regional politics going back a decade. Social media can be a blowoff of emotions, but you WILL see how someone “ticks” when poked enough. (Do not know/have not flown with KO, just read all the emails paid for ALPA to send to all). That being said, vote for where you align your views.

A joint message is pure politics. Frankly, it’s bothersome that it was sent. But hey, everyone gets an opinion.

JV, Retirement, healthcare, RR scheduling... yup..(no particular order).. those are my concerns. That being said, 31+ years to go, full disclosure. Flying with plenty of guys planning their exit who were “deadzoners” so it’s understood that every pilot has different views and points of life. Times are good currently, only historical truth is that this industry goes up; and down. Setting a solid plan forward seems to work against the ebbs and flows. Does a hard line make sense? Were hard kill lines on virtual basing, SIL’s, etc warranted? Maybe... 5 years from now it will be a clear thought. Same with contract negotiations. We could have agreed to XYZ at point A, but got Z... was it better or worse? And when?

We are electing folks who will be our voice for the next 3-5 years in the next contract. They are the proxy of our thoughts. We get emails. Some attended, some didn’t. Some where working, some were off, some had bigger life events going on. At the end of the day who we vote for represents a huge presence of the MEC directing the NC. So we all must figure out who is willing to do the job, done with nominations, and then decide who you feel will carry your torch of thought. Some guys think a restoration of the pension is a reality, others just want a 3% cola. I’m not in either of those camps, but have flown with both. C44 is what, 5k pilots? Make your own decision. A phone call can shed a good bit of light on where someone stands, utilize the appendage of reality. Vote on your opinion, the rest will end in MEMRAT.

Your concerns....KO doesnt care about. All he and his people care about are pay rates and they will sell anything to get them...

So KO doesn’t have the self control to not fly off the handle on social media and if you had seen his act during is 15 min at the nomination meeting you’d know he doesn’t have the self control in person either. But then again he thinks we are “stupid” if we don’t agree with his more knowledgeable opinion.

Note: I said voice your own opinion. I never said it was an endorsement, as believe me, it’s not.

From historical politics, the scent is not pleasant, in the sense of “cooperate to graduate”. That being said, I hope the differences in viewpoints between folks running allows pilots to see the fact that voices matter, votes matter, and conversations need to exist with those that may be in office with your vote, instead of just ranting on a message board. Nothing implicated to an implicit person with any implied attack (as it’s not), beyond speaking minds and being involved.

Complaining never changed an outcome. It will be actions. Act accordingly. Everyone gets a vote, and we live with it for the next contract; with a carryover into the next negation(s). Run the math and that’s the next decade we all live and work under.... speak now or hold your peace. My next few layovers have phone calls on the “honey do” list....
