Default Odd bidding question.

So in the infinite wisdom of training, after sitting 4.5 months NQAT since coming back from Mil Leave, they put my 320 IQ right smack over my vacation. Both weeks.

NQAT 1-16 JAN (7ERB)
20TR 17-30 JAN (320A, but not converting until March for pay if I read the contract right)

Total credit between the two is 80:45

My vacation is showing nowhere, but I had two non consecutive weeks that are both fully covered by the training footprint.

Is there a way to bid this to maximize my benefit? I think Janary is a waste because I'm NQAT or 20TR and it's just going to give me prorated 7ERB ALV for 16 days then training pay for the rest of them.

There’s nothing to bid. You’re already in the line construction window…and if that stuff was posted when PBS opened it is already locked in. Sounds like you’ll get paid out for your unused vacation.

Any way to best maximize shadow bidding for February or is that going to take a good feeling for "am I going to go on OE immediately or wait" ?

Two thoughts:

First, your liquidated vacation will be paid out at the end of the vacation year at your new, higher rate (congrats). That can be a small consolation for losing those days off, or it could be a nice bonus.

Second, take a crack at bidding the fattest trips you can that will touch your shadow period (assuming it has been preposted, otherwise, try to guess or frontload the month). You will be paid the greater of the trips awarded on those days or what you fly, so if you string trips on the front and back of the shadow period, you could theoretically add 2-3 days of pay before and after the shadow period via trips you won’t actually have to work.

Good luck.

So here is something that I learned today. You have 10 days from the time they award training that liquidates your vacation. They have a smartsheet link (PM me if you need it) that you basically request your weeks and if they have them in the new category open, you get them.

I basically had a two week window around the Daytona Supercross that I would like better than my initial awarded vacation that I was trying to move before the AE.

I asked them to give me those two weeks if open, otherwise just liquidate and pay me the 52 hours and change at 320A vs 7ERB rates.

Seems painless, but if I hadn't been dorking around in iCrew for something else, I had received no other notification of training dates, and the 10 day window probably would have come and gone.

Of course, trying to see vacation weeks open in a category you are not in requires some iCrew menu I haven't found yet but am looking.

Vacation weeks available for move ups are on Deltanet under crew resources/vacation.

They can’t make it easy.

Good info about the timeline. That 10 days sounds like an easy deadline to miss.

For the Last Shadow day on your schedule, Award 5-day, Award 4-day, Award 3-day, Award 2-day to begin on that date. Ideally you’ll get a 5-day starting that day and all five will be dropped and paid since it touches a Shadow day.

So I went and checked there. There have been zero weeks available for anyone since week 33.

I know holidays are usually filled, but they have zero for anyone to move regardless of seniority. Do they pretty much only program in vacation for those in the category when we start vacation bidding in January and those weeks never return if they leave the category?

On the whole NYC 7ERB to UNA back to NYC 7ERB my vacation got moved to random weeks. I'm just trying to understand their system beyond initial bids.
