Default Reinstatement questions

Getting reinstated to my previous A seat after spending 3 months away. (I told CR at the time I thought this was useless...what did that just cost the company? A full initial, Greenies while I was displaced, training buys, etc)...

So now I have a questions...

What seniority am I bidding with for vacation?

My A seat lock was originally expiring in Feb. Does it still?

Anybody know what a short requal course usually looks like?

Either way, glad to get my old seat back.

You will bid your vacation based on the category you are in when the vacation bid closes. That will be either January or February. You take your vacation with you to the new category.

You no longer have a seat lock. At least that’s the way it worked for me years ago.

Don’t know about the short requal. Maybe you just have to do a recurrent?

Vacation bids are based on your February category. (7.C.3.)

You are right.

A pilot will bid his vacation based on the category he:

a. holds on January 31st, or
b. is scheduled to be converted to, on or before January 31st.

Ah, thanks gents. Almost looked you up a few months back on a SEA 27 hour, Denny. Good town. Do we still have a pilot that has a vinyard out there somewhere? Maybe it was PDX.

I think there's a couple of guys around here that have one!

Any time you (or anyone!) get a layover here in SEA, as long as I'm home, I'll meet you in downtown for an adult beverage! Just let me know.

So, when you say "converted to", when are you considered "converted to"? It is the start of training on a new aircraft? Say you start training on Jan 29...do you bid in your current category, or the new category you start training on Jan 29? Thanks!

Here is what the contract says about conversion:

Conversion Date. A pilot who:

at the start of training required for his AE, VD or MD, is projected to complete such training, exclusive of OE:

1) on or before the 16th day of a bid period, will be converted no later than the first day of such bid period, or

(2)after the 16th day of a bid period, will be converted no later than the first day of the following bid period.

Hopefully that can answer your question.

Denny has it correct but I will point out that those are “no later than” conditions. The company can (and has) converted earlier. Easiest way to tell is to wait for Jan 2nd or so when 31 Jan 2019 category list comes out then see what category you are in on that list.

It's easier than that (or equally easy). Each month there is a "Conversion List" in DeltaNet - go to Crew Resources/Conversions/Pick the month. It's got each pilot that is being converted and to which base. They are posted around the end of the month, for two months ahead (so to be converted Nov 1st, that Conversion List came out Sept 27th)
