Shipping a Table

Thought I would pick the brains of y'all.:)

I have a cherry wood table that my father made and I want to ship it to my brother in Honolulu. With the legs removed it measures 42x24x17.

What's the best/cheapest way to ship it? Delta Cargo or FedEx? I'm open to any suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Denny

Delta cargo will be the cheapest, with our discount. You can bring the dimensions to a FedEx Office with your badge and they can quote it. Call the Delta Cargo 1800 number and they can quote you over the phone. If you use Delta, make a reservation with that 1800 number before you show up with the table.

The difference is that you can insure with FedEx but not with Delta.

All I have is the obvious:

FedEx offers a 75% discount for DAL pilots with ID.

Offered without the obvious presumption of cluelessness but on the outside chance that somebody didn’t know that.

Blind, no joy, picture...

Thanks guys. I knew we got a discount but I didn't know how much. I talked to the guy at the local FedEx. He said I'd have to take it to one of their offices that does freight shipping.

Yeah, it needs to be an official FedEx Office location. The grocery store or contract pickup/drop off locations won’t work.

You’re also limited on weigh at Fedex. Up to 10 boxes and no more than 150lbs total per day.

But it’s a great deal!!!

Thanks! I called Delta Cargo and shipping one box with the above dimensions will cost $19.68. That's one heck of a deal. I just have to pack the box myself or find someone who will.

Call a local moving company.

They can definitely pack it up for usually less than $100.

If it’s fragile or extra special consider getting it crated. More expensive, but worth it.

I know the flights are full, so make sure you have enough water and food in that box until you get to your brothers house. Good luck.

And for goodness sake punch some holes in it. DAL has enough problems with pet remains.
