New York-EE Family Leave

Newly converted to NYC (commuter)...this is on my PS statement...
What is it? Does it top out at some point? Can I get it back? Etc.
Any wisdom is appreciated.

$107 or $117 max contribution for the year. Some sort of welfare program similar to what LAX based crews get wit the California SDI deduction.

Glad to hear it tops out quick. Thanks.

An additional cost of being based in NYC. Pretty straightforward explanation on the above site.

It's for the NY Paid Family Leave program. You are supposed to pay 0.153% of your gross wages until you hit the maximum deduction for 2019 which is $107.57.

And....it's New York. Once you pay it, fuhhhhhhhhgeddddabouddddit 'cause you ain't gettin' it back. Capiche?

God forbid someone should take anything other than unpaid leave for the birth of a child or other family reasons.

I agree completely -- as long as the insurance is voluntary, which it is not.

Or as long as the same benefit we negotiate/price in/pay for us all equally is available in the same way equally regardless of where one is based.

Child

I have a child on the way, if I am NYC based does this allow me to take some kind of paternity leave this summer and receive a stipend?

Yes, go to the website linked in the thread. You are going to take a big pay cut however.

$749 per week, almost $3000 a month. Not bad for only paying $107.
