Default Military vs. Delta move

MD'd so I'm looking for a comparison of Delta moving benefits vs military move benefits (retired mil but still have a move left).

Advice/experience with either or a combination is much appreciated!

Been a while since I looked, but my recollection was that dl beat mil move. Though that ain't saying much.

Pretty sure it's laid out in PWA

Section 6 in the PWA lays it all out.

I think the weight allowance is a little better from Delta but there are restrictions. I believe reimbursement is limited to the distance between old base and new base so if you MD’d from LAX to SEA but currently live farther away from SEA than LAX is, you might be on the hook for some of the cost.

Default DITY and Delta

I'm going to ask TMO if I can DITY a very small amount (what fits into my truck)...and have Delta move the majority. Good times dealing with the TMO again.

If it's anything like my last mil move it'll be a pleasant reminder of why you separated.

There’s also a number of miles from base that you have to move within on the delta move

120 statute miles from airport reference point. One example of the edge of the limit; Chattanooga TN relative to ATL

Let DL move you to PTC, then when you decide that’s not the place for you, let mil move you to the next paradise!

You only get one year to make your last mil move, though you can get 2 x 6 month extensions taking it out to two years. After that it’s gone.

I had mine extended to 3 years (6 months at a time with proof), YMMV.. may be dependent on the reason. I did it in arrears after my move had expired when we finally decided to move.
